Character
Zape is a lovely blind golden oldie estimated to be around 11 years old. He weighs 21kgs and is currently in foster in Spain.
Zape came from a local hoarding case. He was in poor condition as he wasn’t fed regularly or treated for parasites. His former owner was aware of his blindness but did not seek further veterinary treatment.
Zape’s blindness has now been investigated. He has been diagnosed with bilateral mature cataracts. Unfortunately, his retinas are non-functional so the vet has advised against cataract surgery, as his sight would not be restored. Zape is due to be neutered soon.
Zape is a low energy, quiet, calm and cuddly boy. He just wants a comfy bed and good food (he prefers wet food rather than kibble). He walks nicely on and off the lead and travels well in the car. He’s a wonderful chap and his rescuer says he “shows zero problems at all”.
Zape is used to living in a home environment. He has free access to wander round the garden and yard during the day, choosing cool spots for a snooze. Zape is gently handsome with his golden coat, white paws and slow wagging tail - but it’s his soft contented expression that just melts your heart.
Zape is a sociable boy who gets on well with other dogs. He’s happy to have a little play, but will gently tell the pups off if they are getting too naughty. He avoids any trouble and is a lovely easy-going boy.
Zape hasn’t been tested with cats, but his rescuer thinks living with cats shouldn’t be an issue. Slow and sensible cat introductions are always advised.
All this lovely older gent really wants is a sofa of his own.

Type of Home Sought
Zape is looking for a calm home where he can relax, sleep in a comfy bed (or sofa) and have plenty of cuddles with his person/people. A loving home with a garden to potter in and some gentle walks.
He could live as an only dog or with an existing dog in the home.
Zape could live with calm children.
