Character
Please meet Sugar, who is as sweet as her name. At 12 years old this lovely blind lady faced an uncertain future. Her previous owners no longer wanted her and threatened to put her out onto the streets. For a dog who had spent her whole life living in a home this would have been devasting. Fortunately a kind person stepped up and offered her a foster space to save her.
Sugar weighs 12kgs, has been vet checked and is neutered. She is currently in foster in Greece, where she lives with other dogs and cats.
However, a busy foster environment with many other animals isn't the ideal long-term setting for this lady who likes a calm environment. Sugar is looking for her quiet retirement home where she can have lots of cuddles on the sofa.
Sugar is a sweet gentle loving girl, quietly confident with a dash of determination. She loves cuddles and likes to give her person kisses.
Her fosterer says “when it comes to something she wants, she can be quite persistent. If she wants to go either outside or inside she will stand there and give little barks or whimpers to let you know. If there is food around, so is Sugar!! She will sniff it out and be determined to get some, usually by waiting patiently.”
Sugar is good with people, but she but can be wary of visitors and may bark at them. A little space, time and a treat or two from new people helps build her confidence until she gets to know them.
Sugar isn’t an energetic dog. She is slow and needs very little exercise, although she does enjoy a little walk outside and enjoys a potter around the garden. Sugar happily wears a collar and harness and walks well on a lead.
Sugar currently lives with other dogs and cats with no problems. She doesn’t tend to interact with them much, as she’s more interested in being with people.
Sugar loves her food so is best fed separately from other dogs; if another dog come close when there is food down there can be a bit of a “discussion” between them, but it’s easy to pop Sugar into a separate room to eat. This is nice for her as then she can take her time and enjoy her supper without worrying about a young pup coming to steal her tasty morsels!
Sugar is just adorable with her little legs and beautiful bat ears. This little older lady has lots of spirit and love left to give. We’re hoping she doesn’t have to wait long for someone to see to fall in love with her and offer her a forever home.
