Character
Who will give a retirement or foster home to Sem, our one-eyed Fantastic Mr. Fox with a droopy ear and a missing tail?
Born c. 2015, 12kg, neutered and partially sighted, Sem is currently in foster in Spain but is looking to get to the UK as soon as we can make it happen.
Due to Sem’s short tail, we are seeking an urgent home or foster offer, before pending UK restrictions mean he is unable to travel to the UK.
Sem’s wily wonderful life started in a kill shelter in Romania. He was rescued and lived in Germany with a family (including a child of 2 years old) for some time. When a member of that family went to Spain to volunteer for a rescue there, Sem came too. And there he has stayed.
Sem is partially sighted due to a missing eye. The origin of the loss is unknown.
Sem is a calm boy, who loves to be outside in the garden, interested in what’s going on and sometimes digging. He is active and fit for his age. He loves playing with his human (as you can see in his video).
Sem doesn’t need long walks, he’s happy pottering around, but he will happily go on long walks if his owner wants to.
Sem is a human-orientated dog. He lives with 60 other dogs and tolerates them well, but he does like his own space and would be prepared to defend his bed with a little growl. So Sem can be rehomed with other dogs, but we would need them to be respectful of his space and needs - calm, quiet submissive, savvy dogs only. Alternatively, and perhaps most suitably, he’d make a very nice only dog. He’d be a wonderful companion dog - he loves sleeping on the sofa or (if he’s allowed) his owner’s bed.
At 12kg, Sem is a little large to be picked up, and he doesn’t like it much. He will tolerate it if it’s necessary and if it is done slowly and with patience.
Sem has previously lived with cats, we believe, and are told he is also good with other animals (and children), although he does not live with cats currently.
Sem is very experienced at living in a home and walking on a lead. He can be left alone at home alone for short periods with no problems.
This lovely, quirky boy has so much life in him, and lots of love to give. Who wouldn't want this wily, seasoned old chap on their sofa?
Please note - we do not rehome dogs to families with children under the age of 10.
Type of Home Sought
Sem can live with other dogs but they need to be very respectful of his space, calm and well-adapted. He doesn’t need dog company and would actually prefer to be the only dog. He has lived with cats before. Ideally Sem would like a secure garden to potter around in, and, not too many more changes as he’s ready to settle down.
