Scooby
Character
“He’s a wonderful dog, he just needs someone to love him.”
Scooby (born c. May 2024) is fully sighted and weighs 32kg. Heis currently in private shelter in Serbia and is due to be neutered soon.
Scooby was abandoned by his previous owner. He lived for months on the streets and in a small park - where people would kick him or chase him away. He struggled to find food and water, especially during the hot summer. To stop him ending up in public shelter, or being harmed by locals (which sadly often happens to large dogs in Serbia) a local rescuer stepped in.
Scooby was taken to a private shelter, and he has been there for months waiting to find a home.
His rescuer says, “He’s safe, at least for now, but we don’t want him to live like this.” The only interest that Scooby gets are from people asking to keep him on a chain as a guard dog. But that’s not the life for Scooby.
Scooby is named after the famous character Scooby Doo: a large but gentle, friendly dog who loves to be with people. Like his namesake he may need some encouragement (and maybe some Scooby Snacks) as he finds the courage to settle into a new life after so much hardship… but we think he’s got plenty of energy for adventures.
It’s unlikely that Scooby has ever lived in a home. He is very good natured, but is an adolescent boy, so is looking for a home who will be willing to provide patience, training and guidance.
Scooby is good with other dogs, as can be seen in his videos. He can bark at unfamiliar dogs out of excitement, but once he meets them, everything is fine. It is not known how he is with cats.
Despite his past experiences Scooby is good with people, he’s friendly and loving. He’s still a young boy full of energy (9 out of 10). He walks well on a lead and is good in the car. He’s likes to have a run round in the garden and does enjoy a dig in the yard.
His rescuer says “I believe Scooby would have a wonderful home in the UK. Unfortunately, no one wants him here”.
Can we help him find his forever home?
