Character
This fuzzy little bear is Koda. He is partially sighted, around 10 years old and weighs 16kgs. (He looks bigger in his photos because of his fluff!). Koda is neutered and currently in boarding kennels in Bosnia but seeks a quiet retirement home where he can rest after a difficult life.
Koda spent his life living outside on a chain. His previous owners took him to be euthanised because of his age and impaired vision. Fortunately, the vet refused and instead contacted rescuers to see if someone could save him. Now Koda is looking for a place to call home with someone who will love and treasure him.
Koda has had a thorough vet check and is in good health for his age. He has seen an ophthalmology specialist and has reduced vision in his left eye at night due to an immature cataract and a cataract-related change in the lens. Surgery is not indicated at this stage. Koda is currently receiving Uniclophen eye drops, but will not require these on a permanent basis and can live a completely normal life.
Koda is described as a “a calm, affectionate and gentle dog”. He’s very friendly with everyone he meets and is happy to have some fuss and a cuddle. He has a low energy level and already walks well on a lead. He’s quite magnificent with his noble broad head, lots of black fluff and a slow wagging tail. A little white beard on his chin matches the white flash on his chest, giving him an endearing look.
Koda currently lives with other dogs at the boarding kennel and coexists well with them. As an older gent he prefers calm doggy friends and does not enjoy overly energetic or pushy dogs. He would be happy in a home as the only dog or with a calm, older, well-mannered companion. He says “no thank you” to living with cats.
Koda hasn’t had the good fortune to live in a home yet, but his rescuer feels he would thrive in a calm home where he can enjoy a relaxed lifestyle. They believe Koda would adapt well to living in a home with someone who is prepared to be patience and give him time to settle. His rescuer hopes to bring him into a home environment to help him adapt to living indoors to prepare him for UK life.
Koda has waited his whole life for a for a loving home. We hope he doesn’t have to wait much longer.

Type of Home Sought
Koda is looking for a calm home with patient Adopter/s who will give him time to learn about living in a home and while he settles into a UK life. Someone who understands the needs of an older boy with reduced vision and can give him the love and security of a home he had never known.
He would be happy as the only dog or could live with a calm, older, well-mannered companion.
He would like a garden to explore.
His Adopter(s) will need to allow him time to settle and provide training/guidance while he learns all about UK life.

Our adoption donation is £255. This includes travel to the UK, their vaccinations, pet passport, microchip and all preparation for travel. They also come with 5 weeks free insurance (excluding The Channel Isles & Isle of Man).
