Meet Johnny – a beautiful Croatian Sheepdog born August 2021. He’s on the smaller side (16kgs) with a curly black coat and lovely prick ears. He was born with a short tail which is often the case with his breed. Johnny is blind, neutered and currently in private shelter in Bosnia.
In December 2025 he was rescued from his "owner" in an appalling condition, having spent all of his life on a chain. He spent months recovering and was kept protected in a little office at the shelter with heating on during the cold winter months. Now he’s a happy, healthy boy waiting to start his new life.
Johnny has had a thorough vet check with no health issues identified. His blindness is possibly caused from head trauma, although the vet thinks he may be able to see a tiny amount as he has a small reflex to light.
Johnny is friendly boy, who loves people. He is human-orientated and gives gorgeous snuggles. He likes to be wherever people are and isn’t that interested in other dogs. His breed are very clever and known for being people pleasers. He just wants to belong to someone with his whole heart.
Johnny has an average energy level. He is happy to wear a harness and can walk on a lead. As he can’t see he follows his person’s voice. Going for daily walks will be a new experience so a little guidance maybe required.
Johnny is good with other dogs - like many blind dogs he would probably prefer calmer companions, so he isn’t jumped on. He is fine with cats, as he doesn’t notice when they move around the room (slow, sensible introductions to cats is always advised).
Due to his short tail and to ensure there are no issues, we are hoping bring Johnny to the UK before the ban on importing dogs with docked tails. Could you be Johnny’s new best friend?

Johnny is looking for a loving home with a garden. Someone who likes to chat to their dogs would be perfect for him as he follows your voice.
Johhny has never lived in a home, so he is looking for understanding Adopter(s) who are happy to provide training and guidance while he settles into UK life.
