Gica

**FULLY SIGHTED**

This little bundle of fun is Gica. Gica is fully sighted, about 3 years old and weighs 12kg. She is neutered and is currently in foster in Serbia.

Because Gica had a very difficult start in life, she looks a little patchy in places, rather like a well-loved teddy bear.  Now she is healthy, she is looking better all the time.  But as she may never be even coated and glossy, she would like to meet someone who loves her scars and bald patches, her little white patch on her chest, her deep conker eyes and her white slipper socks… and thinks she is beautiful just so.

Gica was found on the street in April 2025. She was in very bad shape, especially with her skin. She had wounds on her body (presumably from dog bites), skin cracks and large amounts of hair loss, especially on her tail. She had a problem with her ears due to bacterial infection. (Some of Gica’s photos show her in these earlier states, prior to recovery).

Gica has received veterinary treatment and is a healthy, happy dog. She has come a long way on her journey, and recently she had the very outer tips of her ears surgically removed.

When her vet treatment was finished, Gica moved into a small, private shelter. However, her skin issues continued. After many tests the vets concluded her skin condition was an allergy and prescribed hypoallergenic food and bathing with special shampoos. This treatment was difficult to manage in a shelter environment, and in August 2026 Gica was moved into a foster home. Since then her skin has improved a great deal, although she is likely to retain her ‘well-loved’ look, especially on her tail.

Gica will need to remain on her hypoallergenic diet.

Gica’s rescuer says she is “absolutely wonderful and playful, behaves completely normally, and there is nothing wrong with her at all — apart from the way her looks”. But looks aren’t everything… it is personality that counts and Gica has loads of that!

Gica loves people and attention and enjoys a fuss. Gica is a “happy little dog. She never shown any bad temper or complained”.  She can walk on a lead but will need a further training, but as a bright girl who loves food, she should be quick to learn.

As an active dog she would like to go for walks and explore the world.

Gica is good with other dogs. She currently lives with other dogs and enjoys running around and playing with them. When she is inside she is calmer and happily settles down for a snooze. In her previous foster home Gica lived happily with a cat.

Already used to a home environment, house trained, loves people and happy to live with cats and dogs… Gica has so many positives. We are hoping there is someone out there that can see past her appearance to the lovely girl she is. Her rescuer says, “she is loving dog and deserves the best life” and we agree.

Sadly, although she looks well-loved, Gica has never been anyone’s dog. Can you help us change that?
