Character
This is Ellie, sweet and mild. She was born in 2022, is 17kg and is in foster in Norfolk.
Ellie is a beautiful and elegant dog who is often admired for her good looks and poise. She has a lovely calm but curious temperament, is submissive, well behaved and easy to handle.
Ellie has taken a while to come out of her shell but has found confidence through the consistency and support of a loving and experienced foster home. She is now looking for a home where that gentle encouragement can continue.
Initially a street dog from Bosnia, Ellie was hit by a car. Her pelvis was broken and her eye so badly damaged that it eventually had to be removed.
Ellie is a healthy dog now - injuries healed; perfectly happy being partially sighted.
Since being the UK a vet has checked her pelvis and gait and is happy. She has a little bald patch of scar tissue on her leg but is otherwise very healthy!
In fact, she absolutely loves a run around in a secure field! She’s really fast!
Ellie is housetrained, lead trained and crate trained. She can be left alone for short periods with no issues. She travels very well.
She lives with another dog - our terrier boy Leo - who bosses her around but has also helped her gain confidence. Ellie has mixed well with a range of dogs in family gatherings and out on walks. She would enjoy living with other dogs pending gentle introductions; ideally those who are calm but confident too. If she becomes an only dog, she will need frequent and regular dog companions or meet-ups several times a week.
Ellie could live with very confident dog-savvy cats. She would probably retreat from a telling off from a big ginger Tom and thereafter happily cohabit, but she might chase other cats or those who were non-resident.
Ellie has been initially cautious but then well behaved around children. She could live with calm, dog-savvy teenagers, but wouldn’t appreciate a frenetic household. She has been good with visitors and absolutely loved the boiler man! She also behaved beautifully at the vets.
The main need for Ellie is ongoing gentle encouragement to keep her building her confidence.
A beautiful, sensitive dog who won’t ask for much but will be a joy to help flourish.
