Character
Aska is a beautiful, blind, liver-and-white coloured Springer Spaniel. Born 2023, Aska weighs 15kgs, is neutered and is currently in a home in Serbia.
Aska was abandoned by her breeder due to her blindness. She was found on the street as a puppy. However, she has grown up in her rescuer’s home: a loving environment with 10 other rescued dogs, spending most of her time living and playing outside.
Although her rescuer intended to keep Aska, with a heavy heart she has asked BDRUK to find her a home in the UK - a patient, spaniel-loving, active home where she can have the focus and attention she loves and deserves, and with owners who are prepared to put in time with training and acclimatisation.
Aska is described as a “happy, wonderful soul”. She loves being around people and is very affectionate. She will jump up when she feels someone close to her to ask for attention and fuss. Aska is a people-oriented dog, so she would love someone who can dedicate time to her, cuddle her, and take her everywhere with them.
Aska is good with other dogs, but she’s not overly interested in them. Most of the time she plays on her own with her toys. Like many blind dogs she can be a bit hesitant around unfamiliar dogs and may bark but does settle down. Aska adores playing with her toys and carries them around all day.
Last year Aska had an eye removed and the other eye is sunken in. She doesn’t let her lack of sight bother her and is a cheerful, active girl who loves to run around all day. Being a Springer Spaniel, she does have a high energy level so adopter(s) must understand active dogs and be prepared to give her the physical and mental activity she needs.
Aska tends to spend most of her time outside, so is still a work in progress inside the house, including her house-training.
Aska recently went for a vet check-up, although she can be a little scared with unfamiliar experiences, she was great with the vet and travelled well in the car.
Aska has been for a walk and was very good on her lead, but going out for walks is a new experience for her so she will need further training in this area.

Type of Home Sought
Aska is looking for a home where she can get lots of love and attention, where people are around most of the time, as she loves to be with people. Aska’s an active girl so a garden is essential where she can have space to run around and play all day. She’d also like lots of toys!
As with all rescue dogs her Adopter(s) will need to be patient and provide guidance will she settles into home life. They must be prepared to give her the physical and mental activity she needs.
Due to travel restrictions Aska will be able to travel from April 2026.
