Character

Willow is a sweet and tender little dog of 8kgs, estimated born in 2022.
She has a sensitive look with her soft brown eyes and expressive eyebrows. Above all she wants to feel protected and create a deep bond with her humans.

Willow has been affectionate and attentive from the start of her foster placement, nudging to ask for her head tickled from day one. She loves praise and is very interactive – she can high-five with both paws and even helps her foster Mum when getting into her harness.

She is a well-behaved girl and a quick learner: calm and quiet in the house; she can be left for a few hours with no problems. She has adapted well: un-phased by domestic noises and house-trained very quickly.

Out in the open countryside, Willow is a true adventurer and would make an ideal off-road trail buddy. She will pull you up the hills on the lead with her enthusiasm; she is never ready for the adventure to end!

Willow has a vulnerable side too – one that will probably make you feel quite protective towards her. She was found as a stray in Romania, scared and emaciated. Like many dogs with this start in life, the outside world can still present as a place of danger. Willow can be a nervous dog in some contexts, displaying defensive behaviours if she is approached and feels vulnerable. A behaviourist has helped her foster carer understand Willow’s triggers, and how to prevent her becoming overwhelmed through trigger stacking. This may improve in time, but likely Willow may always prefer a quieter, rural life with fewer dogs and people approaching her, fewer loud noises and unpredictable situations.

Willow is currently living with another small female dog. She enjoys playtime outside with her canine companion, and also enjoys her company and protection on walks. Willow would love all the attention as the only dog in the home, but she could also live with an older, calm and confident dog who could show her she had nothing to fear when out and about.

A resilient and willing little companion who is up for an adventure!
