Aka & Hiwa

Aka and Hiwa are an inseparable couple: a devoted brother and sister who have spent their lives looking after each other. Born in 2018 and weighing around 25kg, Hiwa is the confident, sighted friendly girl, black with four white slipper socks. Aka is the beautiful one with his foxy face and eye-liner markings. He is also very friendly, calmer by nature, and blind. 

You might not have considered adopting two dogs. But anyone who already has two dogs knows how they look after each other and keep each other company. And Aka and Hiwa have a very special strong bond. When settling into your home, not everything will be new to them as they will have each other. Their love for each other will be a known quantity for you; a very special thing to observe. 

Both Aka and Hiwa are good with other dogs too, so they can join your existing dog or dog family. This special bonded pair were found on the street in a Bosnian winter at only two months old. They have spent their lives together in a private shelter where they have been loved and well cared for, but they have never had the attention they would so adore, never had their own family or lived in a home. 

Both Aka and Hiwa adore human affection and attention. Aka has previous experience of living indoors (when he visited a clinic for investigation into his blindness), - he behaved beautifully. Both dogs can walk on a lead. Hiwa may pull a little through excitement, but she soon settles down. Aka does not pull. Although they are bonded, Aka and Hiwa are independent too – in fact it’s hard to get photos of them together as they are often off playing or exploring solo when they get the chance. Both embrace life and will need plenty of exercise and walks. They are two perfect dogs in their own right, but one delightful combo of tongue-lolling, curly-tailed joy.
